Vital Signs (an interpretive exposition of the unseen)
An Exhibition by Photographer, Mike Rutherford
West End Art Space proudly presents “Vital Signs (an interpretive exposition of the unseen)” by award winning photographer Mike Rutherford (24 May to 7 June), who was recently announced as a finalist in the National Portrait Gallery’s Living Memory Portrait Prize.
Last year, Melbourne photographer, Mike Rutherford, won a gold medal at the San Francisco International Photography Awards, was runner up in the New York Center for Photographic Art Black and White Awards, exhibited at the Los Angeles Center for Photography Black Lives Matter Exhibition and the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California as well as featuring in group shows in Athens and Texas. As well as his exhibition at the West End Art Space, Mike will be exhibiting at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale (28 August - 24 October 2021).
A former advertising photographer working in Australia, Singapore and London Mike put the camera down more than a decade ago, coinciding with a reduction in high end photography in advertising. In 2019, inspired on two trips to India, he started creating images that were personal and far removed from his work in advertising.
